Even as small as a two days’ direct loss of productivity because of an avoidable fatality can be a major dent in the profit at the end of the year. Add to that, an indirect long term productivity loss attributable to loss of morale amongst the workforce. For several other reasons, this is not acceptable. Yet, the cost of establishing proven practices for industrial safety is negligible in absolute terms. In my experience, I have always found that, with good safety administration, workforce works with greater confidence and fewer misgivings and this always cuts down execution time. One may imagine the wholesome benefit to industry and workforce from implementing proven and good safety practices over the years.
